how to get extra cash

I didn't realise it has been so long since I posted on this blog. Things went quiet for a while no more debt letters thanks to payplan. I thought I would give an insight into what I have been doing. I think I said in one of my earlier posts that I had recovered from a serious life threatening illness which made me unable to work hence getting into so much debt, or rather not being able to pay it back. For the last twelve months I have been looking at ways to earn money on the internet. the problem is they all want paying for telling you how to earn money working from home.

How is your debt comming along now with PayPlan? I am on the edge of Bankruptcy and have been in contact with PayPlan recently who reassured me they could get the interest frozen and offer a payment plan to the creditors which will mean I will be debt free in 10 years. This is only if the interest is frozen, and as 4 of my credit cards are with MBNA and seeing as they were still charging you interest, I have my doubts that they can do what they suggest. This is the first month I have not been able to pay all my cards and I really do not want to go IVA or Bankrupt. The DMP seems my only option, but with some of your experiances I am wondering if it really is the best way to go?
Are the people who bought the debt now charging interest too?

Hi annonymous
In reply to your e-mail I was worried that payplan couldn't sort things out but hey they did. I also had credit cards with mbna and payplan got the interest stopped. I think the only one I had to write to personally was Egg and that was a debt agency that had it. They stopped the interest then. My debt plan will take 57 years to pay and since I am 58 work out the maths.
I cannot praise payplan enough I send all my correspondence to them and they deal with it, the only problem I have is that you have to hold on for ages on the phone before you get through. But they do have an on line system. Good luck, please let us know how you got on.

How is your PayPlan going? Is it actually reducing your debt effectively?

This is the first month I have been unable to pay any of my credit cards and have not had any phone calls as yet... but I know I soon will.

I have been intouch with Payplan and it was the Halifax car which gave me thier number.

They reassured me that they could sort the debt out by setting up a DMP for me and I should be debt free in 10 years. I am on the verge of going for this, but after reading this blog, I am unsure if its the best thing to do? Especially as 4 of my cards are owned by MBNA. It wasn't when I took out the cards, its just MBNA have been on a buying spree and bought out BOS and the other cards I was with. You say MBNA still charged you interest though? Payplan said they have a very good reputation for the interest to be frozen! But your blog suggest different.

I dont know what to do now. lol

Hi Shep
You have obviously missed some of my postings. Initially while the debt plan was being set up I was continually harrassed. Phone calls at 8pm and 8am 7 days a week it was a nightmare. I reached the stage of coming to the end of my teather, but as I say Payplan sorted it all out and they are really helpful and not judgemental.
Take care and good luck. I hope this has been of help

Thanks Ann, that is a great help. All I worry about now is how long the defaults will be on my credit rating? PayPlan says 5 years, but I wonder if its from the initial default or from when the debt has been paid in full?

I will keep you posted to how I get on too.

Sorry can't answer the one about how long it stays on your credit record I thought five years. Trust me it will seem difficult at first with all the calls and everything just stick with it. Good luck

I just want to say I have found your blog very helpful. I have been in turmoil for a while about my debt, but I am so happy I found payplan. I am at the early stages but today been told today that all but two have cancelled my charges and fees. Payplan have been amazing and never had a problem with getting through. They have held my hand through the first stages and like you I have been agressively bombarded with calls at night Sundays and one day I one creditor in particular barclays called 23 every ten minutes.!!!
they have stopped a little and hoping now things will calm down. My debt came from the loss of a baby who died and I was in a mess. Thanks to payplan i can breathe again and get on with my life. I know I have a good many years of paying off the debt but at least I can wake up each day and feel that I am making steps towards a better future. Thanks for your blog it has helped to read your progress through the pain. Wishing you peace and happiness.xx
